Web4 jun. 2011 · I would strongly suggest you remove the reservoir and clean it out (This should be done yearly) to prevent the build up of sludge in the reservoir. Then fill the reservoir. Web14 nov. 2009 · First of all there is no upper/lower unit as it pertains to changing the drive oil. Its bascially one big oil cavity. Second, uses what the drive is specified to use. Any GL5 75w/90 will work. I use Mobil 1 75w/90 GL5 oil in mine. The smaller outboards should be filled from the bottom. The ones with the drain,fill and vent (bigger motors) need to be filled from the top. I fill till it pukes from one side then fill it from the other till it comes out the fill/vent.
